Respect your Elders

I had no interest in playing an original gen 1 game... until recently, I popped in Pokemon Stadium and said "Man rental pokemon suck ass, where's that 20 year old busted piece of trash that has a ton of glitches???" I then started playing through Pokemon Yellow and memories were made, I have a new found respect for a lot of Pokemon now because of this retrospective walk through Kanto.

Generation 1 feels the most balanced despite being the most broken generation ever, it excels at being unbalanced and fun, rather than having a bunch of bad pokemon there are a ton of good ones (with a few bad ones of course) and this team shows that this is something that could only work back then.

FAT FUCK the Pikachu: Old Pikachu is best Pikachu, Pikachu nowadays tries too hard to be cute and cool at the same time, Old Pikachu's badass nature was seen as soon as you booted up Yellow, you didn't need anything else.

HONKERS the Nidoqueen: The Mother of my team, she served up damage like it was dinner, being my OHKO Queen she came in handy in some clutch situations, she even brought the aquatic pain once she learned Surf and she continues to help now, she's a real "Killer Queen".

I'M HARD the Butterfree: A name that only makes sense when you understand it was caught as a useless Metapod, but once it evolved and learned confusion and sleep powder, it was done boys.

LIZZY the Charizard: Liz as in lizard, Charizard is a lizard, haha LAUGH DAMNIT!!! But seriously, if I needed a fire type it was gonna be Charizard, in Yellow you can have access to all 3 starters pretty early and Charmander was the one I wanted to use since my bases were covered with the other 2, a very reliable pokemon.

MIGHTY: "AY YO MIGHTY KNOWS HIS SHIT SON, WORD!!!!" Sandshrew was useless until I taught it dig, then it just couldn't stop murdering things and boy did he live up to the name.

BILL COSBY the Hypno: He puts you to sleep and ruins your dreams, what more can I say? It was good to have 2 pokemon that could induce sleep and that had access to Psychic moves and Hypno wrecked shit once it learned psychic it was over, Psychic types were OP in gen 1.

Honorable Mentions: Zapdos, Pikachu couldn't cut it when it came to the Pokemon League so Zapdos replaced it last minute, good choice honestly. Mewtwo gets a shoutout because I wasn't done with my point on Psychic types, in gen 1 they had no weakness, they were weak to bug but the only bug moves back then were leech life, twineedle and pin missile, moves you wouldn't even use early game and the only Ghost types introduced were weak to Psychic because of their Poison type, Blizzard was a much better move back then and Mewtwo got access to it of course, pair this with a stab psychic, highest stats in the game, critical hits being calculated by the speed stat, barrier, recover and you pretty much have God. Missingno Fossil and Ghost, performing the Missingno glitch in Yellow is a bit more challenging since for Yellow, they disabled the old man trick and tiles along Cinnabar, but the glitch still exists and I am loving exploiting the fuck out of it, I'm doing so that way I can have OP pokemon for Pokemon Stadium, yes I love Pokemon that much, besides the meta is boring as fuck right now.
